        Can have as many P as you want. BMS is needed for series connection of cells (S), not parallel connections (P). As long as the Ah capacity of the cells is pretty close, then the batteries in each parallel pack will self balance. So to confirm: connect your 16 batteries into 4 parallel packs first (4p), these self balance, then connect those 4 packs in series to make a single battery (4S4P), with a 4S bms to balance them
